Overview
Germanos (born Georgios) first saw the light here in Dimitsana, later serving as Metropolitan of Old Patras and becoming a symbol of the 1821 uprising. The family house survives as a tangible link to his life and to Dimitsana’s tradition of letters.
History
- Origins: The Germanos family settled in Dimitsana in the 18th century; the house is recorded as his birthplace (1771).
- Protection: The building was designated a listed historic monument in the 20th century; later acquired by the state for preservation.
