Overview

The museum presents how mountain streams were captured and guided to power mills and workshops. Through restored buildings, working mechanisms and interpretive displays, visitors see how water shaped livelihoods, technology and settlement in the Lousios–Dimitsana area.

What You’ll See

  • Watermill & milling: The classic flour-milling process with millstones driven by a horizontal wheel.
  • Fulling mill (nerotrivi): A pounding mechanism where cloth was washed and felted by water power.
  • Hydraulic network: Channels, sluices and aqueducts that direct flow and regulate speed.
  • Gunpowder story: Exhibits connecting hydropower with Dimitsana’s historic gunpowder craft and local trade.

Learning Experience

Hands-on demonstrations, models and multilingual panels make the workings of wheels, gears and water channels clear for families, students and enthusiasts of industrial heritage.
